Dear ACCESS Students, On Saturday January 14th from 15:oo- 19:00 we will be having our Saturday outing at the Amerikazentrum Hamburg! Activites will include taking a TOEFL exam and working on our yearbook project! Make sure you bring: -Something to eat (snacks) -Something to drink -Materials to work with: pens, pencil, paper, etc -And a great attitude! Looking forward to seeing you all then!

GET READY to SING!!!!! Jingle bells, jingle bells....Rudolph the Red Noised Reindeer.... While in the US we don't have Christmas Markets, we sure do love our Christmas trees and lights! After all, there is nothing that gets you in the Christmas mood more than a Christmas tree lighting ceremony! Am I right? I am so happy to announce that on Friday December 2nd we will be singing christmas carols at the US Consulate General Hamburg Christmas tree lighting ceremony!! Dear Access Students, On Saturday November 26th we will meet at the Amerikazentrum from 10-2pm for our November Saturday outing. We will be reviewing old topics such as: The Yearbook! So make sure to bring whatever you have worked on. We will also be learning about something new: Thanksgiving in the US. INVITATION Lecture / Discussion on ‘ The Debate about Food Issues in the U.S. ‘ by Mr. Jerry Hagstrom Amerikazentrum, Am Sandtorkai 48, 20457 Hamburg on Monday, June 6, 19:00. The discussion about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) has raised the issue of food safety on both sides of the Atlantic.  There is little knowledge in Europa about the nature and political thrust of the debate in the U.S.  The implementation of the 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act remains a subject of ongoing discussion. There is a vigorous debate whether food with genetically modified ingredients should be labelled, and which level of government should take the lead.  The debate has gained salience as some states are requiring mandatory labelling of GMO foods while there are other initiatives on the federal level.  Some of the compromise solutions may be of interest to European regulators and consumers and may have relevance for transatlantic negotiations.  There is al

Dear All, Please note the following dates in your personal calendars: March 23rd 16:30-18:30: Class at Gymnasium Hamm with Ms. Thomas March 30th 16:30-18:30: Class at Gymnasium Hamm with Ms. Swanson, this ends the first trimester. Ms. Sexton will begin class in April. Saturday Outing March: on Saturday, April 2nd from 14-17:30 at Amerikazentrum Hamburg in the HafenCity. *For your planning April's Saturday outing is on April 30th from 11-15. Please feel free to bring your own foods, snacks, and drinks with! If you have any questions or time conflicts, please email us!

Announcements: Monday, February 22   Class this week (on Wednesday, Feb. 24) will be at the Amerikazentrum Hamburg, where we will participate in a workshop on the U.S. Presidential Election 2016 and the role of social media. The workshop begins at 16:00. Frau Lepiorz will meet you at your school entrance at 15:15 and bring you to the Amerikazentrum. If you need to join us at the Amerikazentrum later, please send an e-mail to hamburgaccessprogram@gmail.com. Plan for our March outing: Since you will be on school holiday for most of March, we decided to make our March outing on April 2. This means there will be two outings in the month of April. The plan is to meet at the Amerikazentrum to take our first TOEFL Practice Tests and watch the film "The Butler." Please see the "Outings & Saturday Activities" tab for more information.
